Adam Lanza, 20, killed his mother, Nancy Lanza first at their home on Yogananda Street in Newtown, Connecticut before heading to the Sandy Hook Elementary school where he shot 26 people and himself at the scene. The shooter, an honor student considered to be a genius by his peers never seemed to be a violent type and was considered a "nerd" by his own brother, Ryan Lanza.
When police arrived at the scene and barged into the school to find the massacre and Lanza dead from a self inflicted womb. Connecticut State Police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance said,"The shooter is deceased inside the building," he added, "The public is not in danger."
According to Huffington Post, Marsha Lanza, the shooters aunt says that she contacted Lanza's mother on Facebook after finding out about the massacre and never gotten a response back from here. Marsha said that Nancy was good mother who would have made sure her son had gotten help if she knew he was struggling with mentally and needed counseling, "Nancy wasn't one to deny reality," she told The Associated Press.
A parent, Catherine Urso has a son who knew Lanza and says his style was different, "He just said he was very thin, very remote and was one of the goths," Urso said.
During Lanza's high school days, he attended a Newtown High School where he was an honor roll student and a member of a technology club called "LAN" (local area network) where members would share games and hook up their computers and play with each other. Gloria Milas son, Joshua Milas was a member of the organization and recalls his brother Ryan attending a meeting to help save the club saying, "My brother has always been a nerd," Ryan Lanza said, Milas recalls. "He still wears a pocket protector."
