Rapper Lil Wayne has managed to save his $11 million luxury mansion based in Miami on La Gorce Island after the IRS threatened to seize the mansion. Lil Wayne has finally paid over $7.72 million in back taxes.
The chart topper and Grammy winner reportedly owed $3.35 million in taxes for 2008 and $2.25 million for 2009, plus other unpaid taxes and late fees dating back in 2002.
IRS, had threatened to take back his Miami mansion that is 15,501 square foot to collect the debt back. The waterfront mansion is a three storied that is made up of glass, steel and marble. It also has a three-level guest house, the Daily Mail reported.
Wayne is one of the top five Hip Hop earners according to Forbes magazine's 2012 list
This shows that U.S. gives no special treatment to celebrities. IRS is notorious for seizing assets of celebrities and there have been instances when they have given a jail term for celebrities who have not paid their due to the government.
Hollywood actor, Wesley Snipes was jailed for a term of three years for not having paid more than $15 million in federal income taxes.
CBS Network's "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch too was sent to jail for not paying up taxes.
Willie Nelson, country singer was forced to pay more than $16 million both in back taxes and fines.
Other celebrities who faced the wrath of IRS were Nicolas Cage, Lindsay Lohan, and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.
