Pop star Ke$ha's single "Die Young" was pulled out from Radio stations after the tragic shooting at Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School. Ke$ha understands the reason why her song is totally inappropriate.
Apparently, she did not want to sing the lyrics "We're gonna die young" right from the start. "I understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO," she Tweeted, Dec. 18.
The Tweet was later deleted, Zap2it reported. Even though she is listed as one of the writers of the song it is not clear how she could be "forced" to sing the lyrics. She later wrote, "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy. and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."
It's very rare for Ke$ha to show such humility when she is known for being unapologetic.
Though her song celebrates life and is not about seeing an early grave, the lyrics would be in bad taste after the CT shooting incident.
The shooting at Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School took the life of 27 people, where 20 of them were below the age of 10.
Ke$ha's single that was released Sept. 25, is a lead single from her second album "Warrior." The song was written by Kesha, songwriter and music producer Dr. Luke, rapper Benny Blanco, songwriter and music producer Cirkut and fun. singer Nate Ruess. The song broke into top -ten in its third week.
She was also one of the many celebrities who reacted through Twitter following the CT shooting.
"We've been playing it before Friday but not since and I think we're now done with it," said Rich Minor, programming director at WDAQ-FM in Danbury, Conn., told Billboard. "Even though it's a fun pop-dance record about seizing the moment, all people are going to hear right now is those two words in the title."
