Thousands of mourners bid farewell to Jenni Rivera, who was placed in a red casket decorated with butterflies. Wednesday, the Mexican-American singer was placed center stage in a Los Angeles auditorium while a picture slide show was playing behind her casket along with music.
Her sadden manager, Pete Salgado tried to fight back tears as he spoke saying, "Jenni made it OK for women to be who they are," he added, "Jenni also made it OK to be from nothing with the hopes of being something."
The fallen singer/actress was a household name and commonly known for her unique voice and TV show "I Love Jenni" on Telemundo. The actress plane nose dived and crashed in northern Mexico on December 9 and killed everyone on board. The Secretary of Communications and Transportation Gerardo Ruiz Esparza told Radio Formula explained how the twin-engine turbojet hit the ground, "The plane practically nose-dived," he said. "The impact must have been terrible." There was explanation for why the plane fell out the sky, "The plane fell from an altitude of 28,000 feet ... It may have hit a speed higher than 1,000 kph (621 mph)."
In addition to her professional career, the singer was also known for her personal life, "Jenni to us was perfectly imperfect," Salgado said.
Her godfather, Pepe Garza, opened up about the singer taken to soon and shared, "Above all we love her for her imperfections," he said. "It was her blunders that made us know that she was one of us."
Celebrities also mourned for the Mexican singer via twitter:
"My heart breaks for the loss of Jenni Rivera & everyone on the plane," Eva Longoria tweeted. "My prayers go out to her family. We lost a legend today."
Jennifer Lopez also tweeted this message: "So sad!! Praying for Jenni Rivera's children and family and the passengers families."
Mario Lopez posted: "Spent some time with Jenni Rivera recently. What an amazing lady... Cool, smart, funny & talented. Such a travesty... God Bless her family."
