Clint Dempsey, the current captain of the United States Men's National Soccer Team as well as star player for the Seattle Sounders this week showcased just how much he respects referees in his sport. When referee Daniel Radford showed Sounders player Michael Ariza a red card for what he deemed an illegal tackle, which also took place after a previous red card on Brad Evans, Clint decided to take the ref's notebook out of his hands and proceed to tear it up. So three players were kicked off the pitch, which was pretty terrible when Obafemi Martins had to leave the game with an injury after the Sounders used up all of their subs. Needless to say, Seattle lost the U.S. Open Cup match against the Portland Timbers this week, which might have not been the case if Dempsey didn't perform this blatant act.

We get it, Clint - you get frustrated, perhaps more than anyone else in your sport, or any other sport in the world, but maybe don't do this. Yes, the call(s) might have been hasty or even wrong, but you're not helping anybody by acting this way. Though, honestly, we're not too surprised you did this.
