A freak accident on Air India flight from Kozhikode in Kerala to Sharjah, UAE, escaped from injuries after a emergency landing after the aircraft started vibrating and sparks blew from one of the wings.

One passenger, Samir MP  told Emirates 24l7, "There was panic within the flight. I was seated on the right side and saw the sparks from the winds. We were even able to smell something burning. Soon the air condition inside he flight went off."

When the pilot discovered the problem, an alert was sent to the the Air Traffic Control, which sounded for preparations for an emergency landing. According to Samir, "We were later told that the pilot was even asked to land the flight in the sea in case of fire."

Officials are investigating to what caused the sparks and assume that it may have been caused by a bird-hit to the blades. The massive flight held 168 passengers traveling to Sharjah which was to land around 10:45pm. Although passengers are grateful to have their lives, many of them are complaining that they were not provided additional facilities after landing in Kozhikode airport, "We were expecting them to put us up at a hotel. At least the women and children should have been taken care of. Instead the airline staff told us that we would be flying in another aircraft scheduled for departure at 12pm. They then said we would fly at 4:40am. An Air India Express fight finally took us to Sharjah at 5:40am," added another passenger.

Another scary incident happened on flight that indicated smoke and landed in Philadelphia International airport Saturday. The flight that departed from the Philly airport around 6 a.m. was headed to Cleveland when the crew indicated smoke on the plane. Authorities forced the pilot to land the plane as a precaution. During landing no one was injured and the flight crew confirmed that there was no smoke or fire on the plane and all 47 passengers were taken off and taken back to their terminal.
