If you're anything like the rest of us – and by that, we mean everyone in New York City and the surrounding areas – then you're constantly finding it hard to boost your energy and you're overall mood and outlook. But did you know that if you eat certain foods your mood could actually improve? That's right, folks. Instead of being cantankerous, depressed ants we could eat certain foods and become ... a little less cantankerous, and a little less depressed, ants.

So, there's a silver lining. Um, right?

It's being reported by The Huffington Post that eating right and dieting isn't just so you can look good; it's also for keeping your mentality in check.

Because of that, let's take a look at the top three foods we should eat to boost our mood, shall we?

CHOCOLATE
Per the report, chocolate can best increase your mood when you're "under stress and anxious." It appears that both the fat and sugar can help raise your serotonin and endorphins.

PROTEIN
Protein is very, very important to maintain a healthy body and mindset, especially when you've either overate or haven't had enough sleep. Therefore, try eating fish, beef, eggs or chicken.

COFFEE
All. Praise. Coffee. If you're having trouble concentrating or looking to clear out that mental fog you're suffering from, have a steaming cup of java. Of course, the report notes that too much can cause cravings and depression. But, um, we're pretty depressed if we DON'T have coffee.
