Audiences have been eagerly binge-watching Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix. With the recent casting announcement for Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil, viewers will discover Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) becoming Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox)'s enemy or ally as The Punisher.

As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom cases. But when darkness falls, Daredevil serves out his own brand of justice as he protects Hell's Kitchen from Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).

We have 5 reasons we're excited for The Punisher (Bernthal)'s appearance in Season 2:

5) The Walking Dead Meets Boardwalk Empire

As we previously mentioned,The Walking Dead actor will play the vigilante who intends on cleaning up Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary. In the comics, Frank, a Vietnam Veteran witnessed the death of his family gunned down by gangsters. The origin story could be updated to Afghanistan, but after watching him play Shayne, we know Bernthal can play a character close the edge of morally grey territory.

4) The Rating System

In the comic book rating system, the Punisher was geared at times towards adults, which is why Marvel published the MAX imprint system. During Garth Ennis' run, the Punisher went from being a Death Wish-like character, who shot his way through criminals in the subways, to taking down terrorists; a social commentary on 9/11. With the graphic violence from Season 1 on Netflix, this is as close as we're going to get to an R-rating Punisher movie.

3) The Simplest Costume!

In half of the first season, Daredevil wore a black ninja outfit and wrapped his eyes shut. Thomas Jane, Ray Stevenson, and Dolph Lundgren all put their own stamp on The Punisher. Lundgren was already a tough guy; he didn't even skull-face shirt on him. Many artists, like Steve Dillon, have drawn the Punisher just wearing a worn out black T-shirt, with the faded skull-face on it.

2) Luke Cage Crossover?

In the comics, the Punisher found himself in need of help from Luke Cage. Though they wanted to clean the streets from crime, the two found themselves at odds multiple times. Luke Cage would never cross the line and would get in the way of Frank Castle from killing someone. Crossing our fingers for Bernthal to show up in Marvel's Luke Cage!

1) The Best Fight Scene Ever!

In our recap of Season 1, during Cut Man, Daredevil was involved in a bloody one-take right sequence, reminiscent of Old Boy and The Raid 2. Imagine an all-or nothing fight sequence between The Punisher (Bernthal) and Daredevil (Cox) done in one shot. I don't know who to root for in this scenario, but I bet it's going to be awesome!

Marvel's Daredevil is available now to stream on Netflix.

Readers, are you excited to see Jon Bernthal as The Punisher?
