Rapper Jay-Z who has been successful in rapping with his own style, will be making musical scores for the Baz Luhrmann directed movie "The Great Gatsby."
The rapper has eleven studio albums to his credit and five collaboration albums. He has been roped in by Luhrmann to produce an original musical score. Jay-Z will be working along with The Bullitts' Jeymes Samuel, The Huffington Post, reported.
"Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!" Samuels Tweeted revealing Jay-Z's involvement in the movie.
There was a lot of speculation as to who would be in charge of the score for the movie. The trailer of the movie "The Great Gatsby" has Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church In The Wild."
On the sets of the movie, "The Great Gatsby" Luhrmann was playing Jay-Z's music, this was revealed by the cast members of the movie, The Grio reported.
"On my first day he had Jay-Z pumped up full, and we did the entire scene with, you know, Jay-Z in our ear on full blast while acting, and it was just so liberating," said Isla Fisher, who plays the role of Myrtle Wilson, told MTV.
Luhrmann previously too has juxtaposed modern music and classic stories. For his 1996 movie "Romeo + Juliet" he used English rock band Radiohead's music and in 2001 he used Madonna's music for his "Moulin Rouge."
Leonardo Dicaprio and Tobey Maguire will be starring in the movie. The movie is scheduled to hit the theatres May 10, 2013.
