Sam Smith Replies to Anthony Anderson's "White" BET Speech: "I'm Gonna Need My Award Now"

Sam Smith has something to say about missing the BET Awards! MStars News has learned that the talented British singer wants his award after being absent from Sunday night's show.

According to People, BET Host Anthony Anderson accepted the award in Smith's place and joked that he didn't attend the BET Awards because he was "white."

"Sam Smith could not be here tonight because he's white, and he didn't think he would win at the BET Awards and he didn't think he could win, but we showed him that we love him too," Anderson told the audience as they laughed.

He continued adding a line from Smith's hit song, "Stay With Me," "This is going to stay with me because you didn't show up for BET. Although this trophy is yours it's going to stay with me."

"Sam Smith, congratulations brother on your much deserved award, you come by my house next week and pick it up," Anderson to Smith who might have been at the English music festival according to his tweet.

As for this trophy, Sam posted a not to BET, and Anderson via Instagram and wrote: "YES!! I won a BET AWARD!! Sick news to wake up to!!" The singer added, "Thank you so much for that!! Also....... @anthonyanderson I'm gonna need my award now man.... Haha best speech really sorry I couldn't be there guys. 5 more days till I'm officially back in the game."

He added another photo that read, "Woken up to the news I got a BET award AND this view from my bed. I think it's going to be a good day xxxx"

Sam Smith was also in love with Patti LaBelle for singing his song."I can't believe this. The LEGEND @MsPattiPatti singing my song!!!!!!!! I could cry," he wrote adding the video seen below.

LaBelle performed with Tamar Braxton, and K. Michelle on the BET stage Sunday night. MStars News previously reported that Tamar and Michelle finally hashed out their beef and took the stage together to sing.

Following Smith's win, he later added another post, and claimed that he was still in shock with his win. "Still in complete shock that I won a BET award haha," the singer wrote.
