Jodi Arias is the beautiful brunette on trial for brutally murdering her Mormon boyfriend, Travis Alexander in the most heinous way. The 32-year-old is facing a jury for shooting her 30-year-old boyfriend in the face, stabbing him 27 times, and slitting his throat afterwards.
The trial is expected to be the most watched since Casey Anthony's acquittal. The proceedings began Wednesday and Arias cried as soon as Arizona prosecutor, Juan Martinez said, "This is not a case of whodunit," he said. "The whodunit sits in court today." The defensive team made sure to depict the defendant as malicious stalking seducing killer.
The prosecutor painted Alexander as innocent and incapable of abusing Arias, "She rewarded that love by sticking a knife in his chest," Martinez said. "She slit his throat as a reward for being a good man." Arias' attorney, Jennifer Willmott painted a different picture for the court claiming that Alexander was beyond a good person and was in fact an abusive, controlling sexual deviant, "Jodi Arias killed Travis Alexander," Willmott explained to the courts. "The million-dollar question is what would have forced her to do it, and throughout this trial you will hear that Jodi was indeed forced."
The defensive team introduced emails between the Alexander and Arias to police detective Esteban Flores during the cross examination and asked if insulting words were used towards Arias:
"Do you recall her saying he had said several mean things to her?" defense lawyer Kirk Nurmi asked.
"Yes," Flores answered.
Nurmi asked if Alexander referred to Arias "as a slut." "Yes," the detective said.
"As a whore?" the lawyer asked. "Yes," he replied.
Flores also testified that Alexander wrote to Arias, "I think I was little more than a dildo with a heartbeat to you."
Initially, Arias said that she wasn't at the scene and then later recanted, when her bloody hand print was found she told police that two masked men broke into the home and attacked her as well. Finally, she changed her story again and told detectives that it was self defense after her boyfriend had gotten violent.
