Gear up for a new supergroup in the rock world that includes Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, Exodus guitarist Gary Holt, Amen singer Casey Chaos and Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri.
Though the supergroup has not been named yet (they will be eventually), the group has been teaming up and recording with producer Ross Robinson, who has the distinction of producing albums from Slipknot, Korn and Deftones. Robinson saw "fire, energy and wisdom" between Holt and Lombardo at a San Bernadino Slayer show. Robinson knew that he had to "tap into the energy" between Holt and Lombardo when he was asked to help them with music. "And Casey [Chaos, Amen] has this amazing ability to do these amazing choruses and be so violent and ruthless at it," he adds.
"Whenever Dave and I would get on deck for sound check, we'd go up there first and jam make up stuff everyday. It just comes easy for us. We're both into being spontaneous and improvising. We probably have an album's worth of material," said Holt to Noisecreep.
The supergroup got their fourth member in Nick Oliveri, former bassist for Queens of the Stone Age. It's not sure if the group will release a new album of their own. "If we came in for two weeks of just riff-writing and another two weeks of putting it all together, we'd have an album that would throw people for a loop. They wouldn't know what hit them ... I'm as proud of this stuff as anything I've ever done. It's phenomenal," Lombardo said.
The supergroup has been recording with Robinson for a documentary movie on the haunted house attraction in New Orleans - House of Shock - that was founded by Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo in 1992. The documentary will be directed by Dean Karr(who made monumental videos for Marilyn Manson), Noisecreep reported.
The music that the documentary will get will be punk, "Really, really punk. Super crunchy and super brutal. It just came together so naturally. There's a beat and a riff and Casey starts spewing some venom on top of it. It's awesome!" Holt explained.
