Nicki Minaj seemingly dissed fellow rapper Lil Kim at the BET Awards on Sunday evening (June 28), deeming her hip-hop career "dead" -
"Don't give up on yourself no matter what... This is for everyone in this room. I want to tell you to please make it your business to follow your dreams because one day you will look around and your dream will be gone and you will be mad at somebody. But be mad at your g*ddamn self."
But should The PinkPrint sweetheart actually THANK the "Crush On You" emcee, since rapping was never a "thing" for females before she entered the game back in the 1990s?
An alleged insider for the popular gossip webloid HollywoodLife.com reveals that the cryptic insult simply amped Kim back up. Does Minaj want to fight? Bring it!
"If Nicki thought that her little sly comment would get under Kim's skin, it didn't. Kim is a legend in this game... She's the best who's ever done it and Nicki should be thanking her lucky stars and her fake booty that Kim did it first! Without Kim, there would be no Nicki."
Do MstarsNews readers agree? Remember now...
The Brooklyn native has received highly-acclaimed recognition for her work. Her hit songs "No Time", "Big Momma Thang," and "Ladies Night" made Complex Magazine's "The 50 Best Rap Songs By Women." VH1 also included "Crush On You," "It's All About the Benjamins," and "Money, Power, Respect appear" on its "The 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs." And in 2012, Kim was honorably listed on VH1's "100 Greatest Women In Music" at No. 45 (the second highest position for a solo female hip-hop artist).
Maybe another epic diss track next? Or better yet, perhaps the two songstresses should work things out and release a surprise collaboration together!
