- Thomas Jefferson changed the wording of the Declaration of Independence from "the pursuit of property" to "the pursuit of happiness"
- Approximately 150 million hot dogs will be consumed by Americans over the next few days.
- In 2014, about 10,500 people were reported injured from accidents involving fireworks.
- Only two men actually signed the Declaration on the Fourth - John Hancock and Charles Thompson.
- Bristol, Rhode Island holds the oldest (and continuous) celebration in America - the town started back in 1785.
