How did you celebrate your July 4th? Most probably watched some fireworks and enjoyed a barbeque with friends and family. Billy Joel did all that and had an extra added twist – he married his longtime girlfriend Alexis Roderick in his home on Long Island. The two have been dating a long time and figured what better time to tie the knot than on Independence Day.
According to Joel's publicist, the couple surprised everyone who came to the party. Nobody knew the two would be getting marriage. Joel, 66, and Roderick, 33, has been dating for six years and at some point this summer they will have their first child together.
In attendance for Joel's fourth wedding were some big names. They included Kevin James, Alexa Ray Joel and even New York's Governor and Joel's longtime friend, Andrew Cuomo, was in attendance for the wedding bash.
It seemed to be a happy event. Even one of Joel's ex-wives, Christie Brinkley, wished the singer well. She congratulated the two on Instagram. "Congratulation to the glowing bride and groom," she said. " And to my daughter Alexa, who has a wonderful friend in Alexis! Wishing the growing family every happiness!" These are exciting times for Joel. Not only did he just get married, he is setting some performance records that may not ever be matched. Off the backs of his songs "Piano Man," "Big Shot," and "Just The Way You Are," Joel will be playing his 65th show at Madison Square Garden this Wednesday.
He has surpassed Elton John as the one artist who has performed the most in that arena.
