Not only were Team USA's World Cup dreams on the line this week but also so was the relationship of Carli Lloyd and her fiancé Brian Hollins. According to the World Cup hero, she blocked Hollins from coming to the game. According to Lloyd, it's for the good of the team and their relationship because friends and family distract her. Hollins made plans to come but she had him stay away.
According to Lloyd, she and Hollins wouldn't be getting married if he did show up. Hollins instead watched the game from a restaurant in New Jersey.
"My fiancé Brian was coming until I kinda made sure he wasn't coming," Lloyd said ... "and then he quickly changed his mind 'cause he figured we might not get married if he did show up."

Lloyd was on fire for Team USA's championship win. She scored a hat trick in the match's first 16 minutes and because of this the US gained its first World Cup title since 1999. In the end, USA won 5-2 over Japan.
Much like Hollins, the rest of her immediate family watched the stunning performance somewhere else. Most of her closest fans watched it all go down at Ott's Tavern. The pub is where many of her friends and family have gathered to watch Lloyd play.
"To comprehend it, it's amazing," Hollins told NJ.com on Sunday night. "That's her dream and that's her goal. She wants to be the best and she is the best."
Lloyd made her first appearance for Team USA back in July 2005 against Ukraine. She scored her first international goal on October 1, 2006 against Taiwan.
