New Late Show host Stephen Colbert appeared on last night's season finale of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. During the episode, Colbert admitted that he was ready to stop The Colbert Report even before the David Letterman replacement gig was sent his way.

"You're one of the greatest television performers I have ever seen," Seinfeld said. "On TV." He then went on to commend the energy and fun he brought to the Stephen Colbert character. And while Colbert undoubtedly took the comments as compliments (as they were) he admitted that he was ready to stop once Seinfeld claimed he never seemed tired.

"I was ready to stop. ... Oh yeah. I was gonna stop whether or not," Colbert claimed.

He further noted that the Late Show job fell into his lap.

His Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee appearance wasn't the only time we saw Colbert in the spotlight as of late. The comedian has been making waves online with new videos cropping up in order to promote the upcoming CBS show, which kicks off on September 8.

He recently stopped over in Monroe, Michigan (for some reason) to host a public access show. While there, he interviewed a Michigan native—up and coming rapper, Eminem.

Readers, what did you think of Seinfeld's season finale episode? How about Colbert's comments?
