The premiere of Season 2 of The Strain has arrived on FX. Based on Guillermo Del Toro's bestselling novels, published by Dark Horse Comics, in Episode 1, are Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) ready to fight against BK, N.Y.?
When Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) was a young boy, his grandmother told him the story of how The Master came to be. The Master was once a wealthy, young man, who was once adored by children. Though his brother tried to kill him, the Master found himself in the lair of a bloodsucking vampire. On that fateful day, The Master was transformed into an undead creature, seeking children to quench his thirst.
In the present, Abraham retraces his steps from his last confrontation with The Master. Though sunlight hurt him during the battle, it did not kill The Master. All of sudden, deep in the sewers, Abraham finds himself kidnapped by the vampire/vampire hunters.
Elsewhere, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand) is tightening up security of their vampire-proof hideout. Fet hasn't seen Abraham since the morning, which bothers Eph. At the hideout, Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) helps out with babysitting Zach, even though Eph feels like she's mocking him.
At his own lair, The Master needs a new body because half of his face was badly burned by the sun. With his body dying, The Master needs Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel) to find him a new successor. Eichorst is also on his way to making new property deals with Eldritch Palmer (Jonathan Hyde), who's already smitten by a younger woman.
Abraham suddenly finds himself in the lair of the Ancients. With Gus (Miguel Gomez) holding his sword, Abraham has no choice but to listen to The Ancients, who propose a deal. If Abraham can find the sacred book, they will let him live but only if, he lets them know first where The Master is hiding. Right in front of them, Gus and Abraham are horrified as the Ancients chow down a human victim.
While Eph and Nora try to map out a solution for the vampire virus, Zach (Max Charles) is already yelling at his father for failing to save his mother. Abraham returns home just as a special school for blind children is being evacuated. Palmer heads out to the vampire's nest and picks out Eph's wife, Kelly Goodweather (Natalie Brown).
Feeling like a failure, Abraham realizes he needs the help of teammates to get back his emergency equipment, which contains silver grenades and more ammo. Just before they head out, Eph gets an idea from Dutch about infecting the vampires with their own virus.
While Palmer sets up a press conference, looking like a hero to the city, Abraham has found the books he needs for their next mission. When Nora spots two uninfected survivors, a husband and wife, the storage facility is under attack. Eph and the others shoot and slash their way through to get to the outside.
Elsewhere, the bus carrying the blind children stop in front of Eichorst's abandoned building. By the time Eph and his team make it out of the storage facility, the husband and wife are bitten by the vamps. Eph doesn't want to kill though; he wants to use them for his latest experiment.
Because Kelly has a special connection with Zach, Eichorst has given her a special gift. The blind children rise from the dirt and have transformed into vampires. The first thing they see is their new mother, Kelly.
