Viewers are just hours away from the premiere date for Season 2 of The Strain. Based on Guillermo Del Toro's bestselling novels, published by Dark Horse Comics, will Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) find The Occido Lumen, which holds the key against The Master?
The first season followed Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Maestro) as they discovered a deadly vampire plague spreading across New York City. During their search for a cure, an old and retired vampire hunter, Abraham Setrakian, (David Bradley) and a rat exterminator, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand), join the crusade to defeat the ancient evil. They must all work together to save the world from The Master and his minions, including Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel).
As we previously mentioned, Eph and his team continue their investigation with the mysterious viral outbreak. The further they dig into the virus, the more they discover the hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph and his team find themselves amongst an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, who are waging a war for the survival of humanity.
According to Comic Book Resources, a teaser has been released for 'The Strain: The Animated Prequel'. The animated short explains the terrifying history of the Occido Lumen. Wanted by every undead creature, the Occido Lumen is an occult text, an ancient book, with a bloody past. For all the evil the book brings, however, the cursed text may be the last hope humanity and hold the cure against the vampire race.
For those that have read the Dark Horse adaptation, the ancient book plays a major role in the second volume known as The Fall. How much of Season 2 is based on The Fall? We will have to see.
