Jodie Foster Speech: Reveals She's Gay, Thanks Mother With Dementia And Makes Celebrities Cry [Video]

Jodie Foster's 70th Golden Globe speech for Lifetime Achievement Award brought so many laughter, surprises, and tears. The actress was honored for her many years of acting and decided to use the spotlight to acknowledge that she is a lesbian and to officially "come out the closet."

For more than 40 years, the actress had marked her territory in Hollywood along major names and headlining in thrill seeking movies. Finally, she was awarded for all her works and decided to use the spotlight in more ways than one, "A big coming out speech tonight," she said during her speech. "I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago in the stone age. Back in the days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met. But now apparently every celebrity is expected to expose the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance and a reality show."

When the actress joked about possibly having her own reality tv show, Foster joked and said that she isn't Honey Boo Boo and that a show based about her personally life would be boring. During her speech the actress also acknowledge her mother who has dementia, which brought the audience to tears, "This brings me to the greatest influence of my life, my amazing mother, Evelyn. Mom, I know you're inside those blue eyes somewhere and that there are so many things that you won't understand tonight." The actress added, "But this is the only important one to take in: I love you, I love you, I love you. And I hope that if I say this three times, it will magically and perfectly enter into your soul, fill you with grace and the joy of knowing that you did good in this life. You're a great mom. Please take that with you when you're finally OK to go."
Celebrities tweeted about her warm speech and much support came from the LGBT community as well as other stars.

 Rosie O'Donnell, who is openly gay   wrote, "jodie foster - rather amazing speech."

ABC's Modern Family actor, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, said, "Jodie Foster. You are perfection. I love you."

Kristin Chenoweth wrote, "I love Jodie Foster."

Kathy Griffin admitted to being one of many who got emotional during the speech, "Yep, the Jodi Foster speech got me. Well done Lady."

Ali Fedotowsky wrote, "Jodie Foster is an incredible speaker. She's incredible."

Glee and The New Normal creator Ryan Murphy wrote,  "I love Jodie Foster so much."

Alan Cumming wrote,  Aww Jodie foster, I would like to be your friend.
