Jessica Alba is expanding her billion-dollar home and baby product company by opening up automatic kiosks in airports. The Honest Company, which she founded, opened up kiosks in five airports across the United States offering last-minute goods to travelers.
The Honest Company kiosks offer travelers the essentials that they may forget or run out of during a flight delay. The products include toothpaste, lotion, diapers, deodorant, sunscreen, shaving oil and even baby swim trunks.
"I travel a lot, so I know how frustrating it can be to forget or run out of something you need," Alba said.
Alba's company has been steadily growing since it was founded in 2012. Alba said that she founded the Honest Company because when she was pregnant with her first child she struggled to find natural and eco-friendly products. She wanted those for both her child and herself, which led to her founding the company.
It quickly grew into a massive empire, now worth $1 billion. Alba landed the cover of Forbes in June, for an issue on "America's Richest Self-Made Women." Alba spoke at the Forbes Women's Summit in New York last week, where she explained how she started the company, what challenges she faces and how she plans to continue expanding. The company will be launching a beauty line in the fall.
"People just saw me as this girl in movies who wore bikinis and kicked butt," Alba said at the Forbes Women's Summit. But she did her research and set about starting and growing the company to what it is now.
The Honest Company kiosks are open at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, and the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
