In the video clip below, the Empire star said: "So today I wake up to an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama. According to Eurweb, Henson revealed where she was when she heard the breaking news.
“I was in my closet rushing so that I wouldn’t be late for work as usual. And then my phone started going nuts,” the actress said. “It was weird because the first wave of texts was, ‘You know you going to get this nomination.’ And I was like, I don’t want to see that. It hasn’t happened yet. So, I kind of hid my phone, and then it just wouldn’t stop vibrating."
She continued, “And then a call came through and I saw it was my manager, and I’ve been with them for my entire career, so I knew he was calling me with good news. He knows not to call me with bad news. So, that’s where I was under a mound of clothes in my closet.”
"Mrs. Lyons" faces some "tough cookies" when it comes to her nomination. She is competing with How to Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis, Homeland's Claire Danes, Tatiana Maslany, Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men and Robin Wright of House of Cards.
Season two of Empire premieres September 23, 2015.
