Chicago rapper Chief Keef flashed a gun at a police officer before his arrest in 2011, according to a news report.
As Keef came out of his grandmother's home with a coat in his hand, a policeman stopped him for questioning. The 16-year-old Keef dropped his coat revealing a "blue-steel handgun," which he pointed toward the police officer.
Keef ran giving police a good chase. During the chase, he flashed his gun twice at the cops. The police too fired shots at him but missed. He was later caught and the revolver was retrieved from him. Police also found that the revolver he was flashing was loaded, according to new details that have emerged fromDNAInfo.
Keef, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was later charged with "four felonies - three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm on a police officer and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He also was hit with a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest."
One of the officers involved in the detaining the Chicago rapper suffered bruises in a scuffle as Keef resisted his arrest.
Cook County Juvenile Detention Center was home to Keef until a judge ruled that he be put under house arrest in his grandmother's place.
Keef made good use of this confinement and dropped his popular video "I Don't Like" generating 20 million views on YouTube. It was with this hit that he landed a deal with Interscope Records.
He was also arrested earlier in January 2011, as he was found selling heroine outside a school.
Keef has also violated his probation after giving an interview to Pitchfork at a gun range. He will have to appear in court later this month for probation violations. It is still unclear whether he will have to do some jail time as he is still a minor.
