'Teen Mom' Salary Bombshell: Maci Bookout Says No 'Piles of Money' from MTV!

Teen Mom star Maci Bookout and her fellow costars Farrah Abraham, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood seem to be living the life as stars of a hugely successful reality series. However, the Tennessee native's MTV salary is not what most fans think it is.

According to Radar Online, in an excerpt of Maci's new book Bulletproof, the mother of two dishes on the lack of riches when it comes to starring on Teen Mom OG and the misperception that comes with it.

"Reality TV can make you very famous, but you basically get the sh*t end of the deal: Everyone knows your name and talks about you, but there's no red-carpet prestige or glamorous piles of money," Maci wrote. "Once you become a so-called reality TV star, people immediately think you're a high-end celebrity and you travel the world and have a mansion and so much money and all these other things they associate with having your face on television."

The MTV star makes sure fans know that she is still down to earth and life hasn't changed that much before starting her reality TV career on 16 and Pregnant.

"The fact is, my real life isn't that much different from what it would have been without MTV," she went on. "I still live in Chattanooga and go to Walmart and buy bread and milk."

As MStars News reported, when promoting the latest season of the show that made them famous the "teen moms" spilled details on their salary from 16 and Pregnant!

"We only got, like, five thousand dollars but to us that was a lot at that time," Amber told Yahoo! TV.

"That paid for a lot of diapers ... At first, I did not want to sign up. I'm like, I've got everyone at home judging me already — why would I want the whole world judging me?" Maci said. "After talking with the producers extensively, I thought if I had been 16 and been able to watch myself on TV, I might not have ended up as a teen parent."
