'The X-Files Revival' Cast: Kumail Nanjiani, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose Join Mulder, Scully!

Back by popular demand, the iconic sci-fi/horror series returns with an all-new cast members from Fox. In highly anticipated revival of The X-Files, will Kumail Nanjiani, Robbie Amell, and Lauren Ambrose join the crusade with Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson)?

As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with 6 brand new episodes. Not only are the leads set to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Silicon Valley actor will guest star in episode three, entitled, "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster." Nanjiani plays an animal control officer who helps Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) as they attempt to catch a mysterious creature. Because he hosts The X-Files Files podcast on Nerdist, we can be sure he will dish behind-the-scenes scoop when his episode comes close to air date.

The Portlandia comedian shared a snapshot of himself with the two leads and tweeted from his official account, "I got to be in an ep of my favorite show (X Files) written & directed by my favorite writer (Darin Morgan)," he said in a follow-up tweet. "And this script is wonderful."

TV Line adds, The Flash actor will play smart and smooth Agent Miller. The DIG actress will portray the equally sharp and confident Agent Einstein. No word yet on which one of the six episodes they will appear in. Because Ambrose is a red-head, could the show be spoofing themselves in a meta-episode?

The X-Files returns with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, January 24, 2016, following the NFC Championship Game. The event continues with its time period premiere on Monday, January 25, 2016 (8pm).
