Actress and singer Selena Gomez posed on the cover of Nylon's February 2013 issue and in her interview with the magazine, conducted while she was still dating Justin Bieber, she talked about her now ex-boyfriend and her friendship with fellow singer Taylor Swift.
Gomez, 20, and Bieber, 18, ended their relationship days before New Year's following an argument they had while on vacation in Mexico. At the time of Nylon's interview, however, the two were going strong and when asked about her relationship status, Gomez coyly replied, "I'm having fun."
She also discussed her annoyance regarding false news reports about her.
"It blows my mind that somebody wakes up every morning and goes to their little office and meets with people to just make stuff up," she said of the erroneous press coverage that follows her, adding that she does not read blogs "unless it's really bad and I need to know."
In respect to false reports specifically about her love life, she did not mention Bieber by name but did note that ups and downs in relationships are normal and hers are only difference because they play out in the spotlight:
"At the end of the day, love is such a normal thing, and everyone deals with it. Just because it's a different lifestyle doesn't change the meaning of what I've been raised on, which is fairy tales," she said.
A friend of Gomez's, whom she has been seen in the spotlight with numerous times, is "Safe and Sound" singer Taylor Swift. The two were seen having a girl's night out following a reportedly bad dinner date Gomez had the night before with Bieber and after the couple broke up, reports said Gomez turned to Swift, 23, to help mend her broken heart.
Gomez told Nylon it was easy to connect with Swift because "we have both experienced the same things at the same time."
"But we've never once talked about our industry. She just became the person I'd go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend," Gomez added. "It's so hard to trust girls, so I'm lucky to have her."
