Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl responded to a viral video from Cesena, Italy. Fabio Zaffagnini organized 1,000 musicians to perform the Foo Fighters' "Learn To Fly," in a massive attempt to get the band to come and play in Cesena. It appears their plan has paid off.

"The Foo Fighters are not in Romagna since 1997, it's time to get them back, but we need a crazy idea," a website for Rockin' 1000, the project, says. "We have to organize something that kicks ass worldwide and can be seen by Dave Grohl: We will ask one thousand rockers to play one of their songs, all together and at the same time."

Zaffagnini started the project in May 2014. He raised nearly $50,000 to organize the spectacle. Musicians sent in videos to audition for the video. Of the thousands of submissions, 350 guitarists, 250 singers and 150 bassists were chosen to perform. Composer Marco Sabiu led the music.

The video of the performance went live on YouTube on Thursday and nearly instantly went viral. It shows the 1,000 musicians giddily performing the Foo Fighter's classic hit "Learn To Fly." It has now been viewed over 13 million times.

Most importantly to the organizers, though, Grohl saw it. The rocker posted a video to the Foo Fighters' Facebook page responding to the video.

"We are arriving [coming], I promise. We'll see each other soon," Grohl said in Italian.

The Foo Fighters' summer tour was interrupted in June when Grohl fell onstage and broke his leg. The band had to cancel a handful of performances for Grohl to recover.

The bas has since picked the music back up. Grohl is recovering in style, performing in concerts from a musical Game of Thrones-inspired chair. Part of his recovery, he said recently, includes "air-drumming" along to Led Zeppelin as his own personal form of rehab.
