Celebrity death hoaxes do not seem to die. Now, pop singer and rapper Shaggy has become death hoax's recent scapegoat. It was being reported that the singer who gave hits like "Boombastic" and "It Wasn't Me" died after a bar fight, Jan. 23.
Numerous rumors surfaced online suggesting that the 44-year-old singer was stabbed to death in a bar fight in Los Angeles., Contactmusic reported.
But Shaggy is not dead and is alive. This was confirmed by his representative who told TMZ, "[Shaggy] is like a cat with 9 lives ... but I can happily report that he's alive and kicking and in the same building as me right now as we speak."
Such false reports have been often seen circulating on the internet. Recently Hollywood actors like Morgan Freeman and Nicholas Cage were falsely reported to have died.
Shaggy has been a victim to these death hoaxes earlier too. In April 2012, he was reportedly rumored to have died when the phrase "RIPShaggy" began trending on Twitter.
Shaggy has launched ten studio albums since he dropped his first album in 1993, "Pure Pleasure." His last album was "Summer in Kingston." Shaggy has won Grammy Award for his 1996 album "Boombastic."
He is expected to release a collaboration album with Sly & Robbie in the summer of 2013.
