Before its the official October premiere date, CBS has made a new casting announcement for the DC Comics superheroine Supergirl. In Episode 3, will Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), find herself competing against Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) for the affections of Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks)?
As we previously mentioned, the CBS superhero drama will follow the comic book adventures of Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped before its destruction. While living on Earth, Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at the tender age of 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always meant to be.
According to Entertainment Weekly, theWitches of East End actress will have a recurring role as Lucy Lane. In the CBS drama, Lucy, who happens to be the sister of Lois Lane, is brash, funny and successful in her own right. Just like in the comics, Lucy will also be an ex-girlfriend of Jimmy Olsen (Brooks),
Because Lucy is in town because she wants to right a previous wrong, does that mean Lucy is thinking of rekindling her romance with Jimmy? But wait, Jimmy is supposed to be with Supergirl, like in the comic books. Dewan-Tatum is scheduled to make her appearance in the third episode.
We also mentioned, The 100 actor, Chris Browning, is scheduled to make his appearance in the third episode as well as the super villain known as Reactron. Browning also has the potential to become a recurring character if the show happens to be a runaway hit.
The attendees at San Diego Comic-Con were given an early look at the CBS' eagerly anticipated superhero pilot. The screening was held at the opening night of the convention Wednesday night. Though pilot was previously leaked online, there were rave reviews for the leading actress and supporting cast.
