HBO has released a promo for their upcoming TV remake of the late sci-fi author Michael Crichton's cult classic, Westworld. From Person of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan presents Anthony Hopkins, Jeffry Wright, and Ed Harris in the first look trailer., which debuted before the True Detective Season 2 finale.
As we previously mentioned, the 1970s western/thriller centered around an amusement park and its guests. A precursor to Jurassic Park, as writer/director, Crichton imagined three worlds - the West World, Medieval World, and Roman World - inhabited by human-like androids. Rebelling against their programming, the robots run amok and started attacking the tourists in the climatic final act.
Nolan had teased, "I would say, picture your neurosis. Picture the things that keep you up at night-human behavior, artificial intelligence-any of those things that trouble you, worry you. That is exactly what the show is about. We are hoping to exploit all of those anxieties...We're incredibly excited about it, both on the narrative level and on a cinematic level."

We also mentioned before, IGN reported that a minute long clip was presented only to the attendees at the recent San Diego Comic Con. Then, HBO presented a lengthy trailer at the TCA press tour. Though the trailer had not been released publicly yet, IGN raved from their first impression that "this looks to be an incredibly cool, compelling series." On the official Westworld Facebook page, the caption states, "Before the True Detective Season 2 finale, investigate a new reality: #Westworld. Get a first look tomorrow at 8:58:34PM ET on HBO."
Now the footage has been finally released to the public, who have been anxiously and patiently waiting to see what all the hype is all about. Was it worth the wait, readers? Is the show different or similar to the cult classic? Check out the first look trailer here:
