Though the Season 7 series finale of the critically acclaimed Mad Men aired, the AMC drama continues to earn high praise. After playing the memorable role of Don Draper for seven seasons, actor Jon Hamm has earned his recognition for his role after winning at the 2015 TCA Awards.
In our finale recap, Roger Sterling (John Slattery) moved to Europe after marrying Megan's mother. Now a single mother, Joan (Christina Hendricks) started her own all-female business, straight out of her home. Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) professed her love for Stan (Jay R. Ferguson) and kissed him.
In the closing minutes, Don found himself at a retreat after Stephanie (Caity Lotz) abandoned him. Breaking down, Don wanted to come back for his dying ex-wife and and children, but he didn't want to return home empty-handed. In a state of medication, Don found himself inspired, coming up with the renowned Coca-Cola commercial that will make an indelible mark in advertising history.
As we previously mentioned, the Television Critics Association announced the nominees for the 31st Annual TCA Awards. Mad Men was nominated for Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama. The Town actor also earned a nod for Individual Achievement in Drama as well.
According to TV Line, the 30 Rock comedian took home the award for Individual Achievement in Drama. Hamm beat out Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder), Matthew Rhys (The Americans), and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul).
As quoted by Variety, Hamm thank the Mad Men showrunner, Matthew Weiner in his acceptance speech, "Literally no one wanted to cast me but one person, Matthew Weiner. Those of you who know him know he can be persuasive."
