Fans of rapper Kanye West have had enough of waiting for his new album, SWISH, to finally drop. On August 12, one fan wrote up a petition on the White House's "We The People" site, where people are encouraged to write about what they'd like President Barack Obama to address, trying to force the album release August 21st.
"Kanye West has kept us thirsty for too long," the petition read, according to Complex. "We haven't gotten any new singles in months. The President should order Ye to drop the album on the date August, 21st as his producer Mike Dean has been teasing people about."
Dean has been officially quoted saying, "whenever Kanye say's it's done, it's done," and has not given any definite public word on when the album is coming out.
The latest single from SWISH is "All Day," which was premiered back in February at the Brit Awards. Before that, we got Kanye's emotionally strong "Only One," which dropped in January, along with a sweet music video.
Unfortunately, we're nowhere closer to getting Obama's executive power to force Kanye to grant us a new album. The White House petition was taken down, despite getting over 100,000 signatures in 24 hours.
"The petition you are trying to access has been removed from the site under our Moderation Policy because it is in violation of our Terms of Participation," an official message on the petition now reads.
Obama has some good will towards West, which may be why he's choosing to not address the issue (or, perhaps, because he has other things to take care of, though we digress...). Despite having called West "a jackass" after the Taylor Swift incident, Obama recently said he does like West.
"I love his music and he's incredibly creative," Obama said on Jimmy Kimmel Live, adding that he does not call West on his home phone, contrary to what West once said. "I do love his music though. He's terrific."
Maybe Obama's just mad that West and Kim Kardashian's latest political selfie was with Hillary Clinton.
I got my selfie!!! I really loved hearing her speak & hearing her goals for our country! #HillaryForPresident A photo posted by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on Aug 6, 2015 at 8:40pm PDT
