Both the Mets and Pirates maintain extremely high spots in ESPN.com's official break-down of all 30 professional teams (power rankings):
Pirates (3): "The Pirates have allowed 20 runs in their past four games -- but won all four as the offense hit .362 and scored 31 runs while beating the Cubs and then sweeping the Dodgers. Next up: a big road trip to St. Louis and then the Mets." David Schoenfield, SweetSpot
Pittsburgh now holds an impressive 66-46 winning record and remains 2nd in the National League Central Division.
Mets (7): "Since July 24, the Mets have scored the third-most runs (77) in the National League, averaging 5.5 runs per game. Prior to that date, they were scoring 3.4 runs per game. Their 19 home runs since July 28 are the most in the NL and second most in MLB." Joe Janish, Mets Today
With that, New York maintains 63 wins and 52 losses and is now 1st in the National League Eastern Division.
The Friday night ballgame will be broadcasted live on local sports channels RTPT and SNY.
