USA's 'Colony': Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Carlton Cuse Set 2016 Premiere Date!

Created by executive producers Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Ryan Condal (Hercules), The Colony will make its debut on the USA Network. Check out Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) as the sci-fi thriller sets its official premiere date in 2016.

As we perviously mentioned, Colony is set in the near future of Los Angeles, The city of angels now exists in a state of occupation by a force of outside intruders. There are some people who choose to collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order. Then, there are also others who rebel and suffer the consequences. Holloway plays the role of an FBI agent, Will Bowman, determined to reunite his family after an alien invasion separates him and his wife, Katie Bowman (Callies) from their son.

According to TV Line, the USA drama will premiere in January 2016 at 10 pm. The Colony will lead out of WWE's two-hour SmackDown program. We also mentioned, USA has marked the return of Chrisley Knows Best for November, which will be followed by their new comedy, Donny!

As The Hollywood Reporter states, the cast and crew arrived at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour.

Cuse describes the show as a metaphor for Afghanistan and how the themes were influenced by images of Paris during Nazi occupation, "The history of colonization is about the history of subjugation. We're trying ... to learn what the new rules of this world are and why these people are here, and what's outside of the walls. Those questions will be answered."

Though we don't know the rest of the world has been impacted by the alien invasion, the series takes place in Los Angeles, which has been divided into three colonies. Jim and Katie Bowman will discover how the alien civilization has taken over L.A. proper, Santa Monica and the San Fernando Valley.

Callies adds that her new show is a "photo-negative" of The Walking Dead, "An apocalypse is about anarchy, chaos and the loss of control over people, whereas occupation is a hyper-organized state that has control over its people,"

The Colony is set to premiere Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at 10 pm.
