Country Legend Johnny Cash To Be Immortalized With A Postage Stamp, Courtesy US Postal Service [PHOTO]

Legendary country singer-songwriter, Johnny Cash will be immortalized with a postage stamp by the U.S. Postal Service.

His stamp will be one among the series of postage stamps on "Music Icons." The photo that will be gracing the stamp will be the one that was seen on his classic album, "Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash," 1963 by Frank Bez. The stamp was designed so as to match the 45 rpm record sleeve Rolling Stone reported.

The design for the "Ring of Fire" singer's stamp went through a gruelling process. "We get about 40,000 suggestions for stamp ideas each year but only about 20 topics make the cut. These suggestions are reviewed by the Postmaster General's Citizens' Stamp Advisory whose role is to narrow down that 40,000 to roughly 20 and then provide their recommendations to the Postmaster General for final approval," explained Mark Saunders, representative, USPS to Today.

Announcement of the stamp's release date is yet to be made.

Johnny Cash died in 2003 at age 71. He came to prominence with his classic hit "Ring of Fire," in 1963. The song was co-written by his wife June Carter Cash.

In 1980, the singer was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and in 1992 into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There are 54 studio albums of Cash with nine live albums. He even made many collaborative and tribute albums along with Gospel albums.
