Emily Blunt was accompanied by her husband, The Office star John Krasinski, on August 4th when she officially became a United States citizen. However, she wasn't the only one at the courthouse! Actor Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves along with their children Levi,7, Vida, 5, and Livingston, 2, were in attendance for the momentous occasion. According to Us Weekly, these two beauties were "partaking in the same VIP legal oath ceremony held at a U.S. courthouse...in L.A."
Everyone was quite excited and although Blunt is a native Brit, she has said, "Our lives are here, all our friends are here." She has made a life here in the U.S. with Krasinski, whom she married back in 2010 and they "welcomed their daughter Hazel in February 2014. The The family live in Ojai, California, and despite previously admitting she misses 'the irreverence of the British,' Emily has no plans to move back to her native England," Hello Magazine says. This was proven the very next evening when the couple attended the very private wedding ceremony and reception of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux along with other A-List stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Ellen DeGeneres at the couple's Bel Air mansion.
Blunt isn't the only one who was happy with her decision, Brazilian-born model Alves also went to the internet to post about her happiness. On Twitter she announced, "Happy to say I now hold an American passport! I have so much respect and appreciation for this country. #newuscitizen." Her hubby, McConaughey also took to Twitter, posting a family photo and a lovely message to his wife. "Congratulations Camila on getting your U.S. citizenship today," he tweeted. "Another fellow and great American,"
What a coincidence that both of these women would get their citizenship on the same day! What great news for both families and now we can look forward to seeing Blunt in more future projects!
