As if Brad Pitt wasn't a sweetheart enough, he had to go and build more houses to those in need after Hurricane Katrina, which struck over 10 years ago! The damage to New Orleans is still evident still in the state of Louisiana. "On Aug. 29...Brad Pitt's Make It Right organization plans to honor the day with the unveiling of a new tiny home," Today Home reported. Pitt told CBS News, "These are families like yours and mine, who have been left in limbo...That's what this is designed to do. It's a practical way to get people in homes." Pitt said this back in 2007 and it's great to see that he is really behind the cause. The damage has clearly been lasting and there are still more people to help and houses to build.

Yahoo News! quoted Tanya Harris, the community outreach manager for Make It Right who was "born and raised in the Lower 9th Ward and has been a leader in the post-Katrina rebuilding efforts." Harris said, "My family and I lost everything we owned...We lost friends and family, unfortunately. We lost a sense of community. It was a very tragic period in our lives." The community believes the program to be a blessing and right now, the homes that they've built are occupied by 350 citizens. Make It Right has a new design for homes in the works and Today Home reports, "According to a blog post by communications director Taylor Royle, the 496-square-foot high-tech mini house will have two stories. A living room, full kitchen, full bathroom and washer/dryer for laundry will be available downstairs, while the upstairs will hold the bedroom, closet and work area/desk. It will also have solar-power, energy-conserving appliances and recycled countertops, among other environmentally-friendly features. And of course, hurricane-resistant features will also be incorporated."

Not every good deed goes unpunished and the program, which is celebrity driven, has generated a lot of attention in the past couple of years -- not all of it good. The houses are believed to be too expensive and complicated by some while others say that different organizations can make more homes with the same amount of funds. Regardless of the detractors, it's still an amazing sight to see and Pitt and Make It Right are working hard to make quality homes for those that still need them.
