Jay Electronica got a little ballsy while performing onstage in London earlier this week. Does the Roc Nationa superstar wish to start another epic industry beef with Drake AND J. Cole?
Forget about Jay-Z, the 38-year-old New Orleans record producer believes he's the true "God of Hip-Hop." Really?
During a concert on Wednesday evening (August 19), Electronica bluntly proclaimed to the pumped-up crowd:
"Jay Electronica is the God of Hip-Hop."
Interesting, considering he's never actually released a hit studio album throughout his entire career. Back in 2007, Electronica did debut a 15-minute piece of "timeless classic" music based-off of Jon Brion's soundtrack for the film "Eternam Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (via Vice Magazine). But still, does that truly make him a "God" of the Genre?
But Electronica didn't stop there - he had the nerve to drag Drizzy and Cole into the mix!
"You might be the '6 God,' but I am the God."
Ouch.
Later on, he stopped Skepta's "Shutdown" to announce: "I'm sorry but J. Cole ain't got bars like this. I'm sorry, whoever your favorite rapper is, they all know that I'm the God" (via HotNewHipHop.com).
What probably inspired Electronica's rather shocking confidence?
Didn't he pay attention to the YMCMB rapper's harsh "Back to Back" blast aimed at Nicki Minaj's boyfriend Meek Mill?
Well, Twitter's amused:
@lexiscarruthers: "Why is Jay Electronica trying to make himself relevant by dissing @JColeNC ?! C'mon now."
@BJPresCEO: "Jay Electronica really pisses me off... The nerve of him..."
@mosa_BK: "If Drake were to respond to Jay Electronica I'd be hella surprised. He's been very good at picking his battles thus far..."
@PhenomBlak: "Jay Electronica claiming he better than Drake AND Cole with no album yet but promised since 2011? Naw bruh, sorry. Drop it or stop it."
Time for another hard-hitting comeback, perhaps even an awesome collaboration?
