While Holland previously filmed his Civil War scenes earlier this summer, he's back to work on this new project, which was announced this week in a press release from MICA Entertainment and Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment. Pitt is serving as a producer.
According to the press release, the actors are filming in Belfast, Ireland for five weeks and then moving to Columbia in September, shooting through October (via Slash Film / Variety).
Here is a synopsis of The Lost City of Z from the author's official website:
After stumbling upon a hidden trove of diaries, acclaimed New Yorker writer David Grann set out to solve "the greatest exploration mystery of the twentieth century": What happened to the British explorer Percy Fawcett and his quest for the Lost City of Z? In 1925, Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of the most important discoveries in history. For centuries Europeans believed the world's largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado. Thousands had died looking for it, leaving many scientists convinced that the Amazon was truly inimical to humankind.
Holland can next be seen in Ron Howard's In the Heart of the Sea opposite Chris Hemsworth, Ben Wishaw, Cillian Murphy and more. This film has a December 11, 2015 release date. Watch a recent trailer right here:
