Girls Aloud Ban Booze On Tour To Help A Band Member Battle Alcohol

The all girls British-Irish pop band, Girls Aloud, have banned alcohol on their tenth anniversary tour.

The ban will apply not only to the singers but also the dancers and the staff involved. This move by the band was to help one of its band members, Sarah Harding who battled alcohol addiction in 2011 to stay away from it, Entertainmentwise reported.

Other band members - Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts have sacrificed drinking on the tour to support their band member.

Harding who went into depression and alcohol abuse after her break-up with fiancé Tom Crane in 2011, was being treated for addiction. The girls reportedly supported her by not drinking alcohol.

"The girls have decided to ban alcohol altogether in support of Sarah. She's still dealing with her alcohol problem two years on - and they've decided to ban it out of respect for her. It's only fair, they don't want her falling off the wagon and going back to how she was after she split from Tom," said a source to The Sun.

Harding who spoke to HELLO! Said in 2011, ''The following night, I saw Nicola and Kimberley for dinner. I wasn't in a good state at all - I was very hungover. But the first thing I wanted to do was open a bottle of wine. I know they were really worried about me.''

"I am trying really hard to be healthy. I have met up with friends in London since I got back and I've realised I can socialise without booze," she had added.

The tour will start Feb. 21 in Newcastle, UK.
