WWE has once again sold out the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and tonight will be the August 24, 2015 episode of Monday Night Raw. Tonight's three-hour broadcast will continue the storylines from SummerSlam, which culminated in a main event between Brock Lesnar and Undertaker. The show will air on the USA Network, but if you can't watch there, then you can try here or here, both of which broadcast free live streams of the show (this may require downloading a torrent).
The two titans engaged in a brutal and exhausting affair that reached an odd finish in which Undertaker tapped out (which he has never done in his career) to Lesnar's Kimura Lock. But the referee missed it because he was preoccupied with checking Brock's shoulders, which were down on the mat as he tried to get Taker to submit.
The timekeeper, however, noticed Taker's tapping hand and rang the bell, which prompted referee Charles Robinson to try to sort out the chaos. This opening allowed Taker to drill Lesnar with a low blow and then put the Beast in Hell's Gate for a second time. Lesnar defiantly gave Taker middle finger and collapsed, which gave the Phenom the win over Lesnar that has eluded him for his entire career. Paul Heyman performed a live-action epileptic seizure and screamed that Lesnar was the real victor.
Reports say Undertaker flew home to Texas tonight, but we're also supposed to get a major development on Raw, possibly even the set up to the main event of WrestleMania 32. The common belief is Sting will be there to set up a match with Taker, so we'll have to see if The Icon is in the building.
In the other major match of the night, Seth Rollins beat John Cena to become the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion and WWE United States Champion. But Cena did not do it alone, as Jon Stewart, who had previously had beef with Rollins, interfered. The former Daily Show host drilled Cena with a chair while the referee struggled to recover from getting knocked to the mat. This gave Rollins an opening to Pedigree the 15-time world champion on the chair and secure the win and both belts.
It's unclear Stewart will have an active role in this story now, or if his part is done completely. If the latter is true, then we should all expect Rollins to begin tonight's show with a lengthy promo. He'll brag and boast about how he took down The Face That Runs The Place, and the most we would get is a brief nod to what Stewart did last night. If the former is true, then Stewart needs to explain why he did what he did. Perhaps the wrestling fan in him didn't want to see Cena tie Ric Flair's record.
