Maze Runner and Teen Wolf star Dylan O'Brien turns 24 today, August 26, 2015! Happy Birthday! O'Brien has really shot up in fame during the course of this past year and is making huge strides as a successful actor. He landed the lead role of Stiles Stilinski in the MTV series Teen Wolf back in 2011, "based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie of the same name and centers on Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), a teenager who is bitten by a werewolf. He becomes caught up in struggles with other supernatural creatures while also trying to get through normal high school problems," Christian Science Monitor says. The show has been going on for four years now and O'Brien has been shooting the sequel to the hugely successful Maze Runner, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, where he plays Thomas and the rest of the Gladers, who now has to "face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles" after having escaped the Maze.
He recently sat down with Screenrant and talked about Thomas's character this time around. He explains that he is trying to figure out the character arc for himself, which is part of really getting into the character of a series we suppose. "The way I look at it is like the first one, Thomas is the reason, he kind of holds all the responsibility for them getting out and he thought that was the answer, he believed in it so hard. Now that he's gotten these guys out and they've lost more than they have and Chuck especially, all that is weighing on him now that he's not so sure that this was actually the better choice. Maybe this wasn't the best thing," he said. It's nice to see how dedicated he is to his role. It's become the latest YA box office hit and there is even more excitement knowing that the sequel will be hitting theaters September 18th!
Check out the trailer here and get excited for the next chapter in this story that has more twists and turns than...well, a maze!
