The highly anticipated sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, XCOM2, was announced earlier this year with a late 2015 release date set. Unfortunately, this release date has now been pushed back to February 2016, which means you'll have to wait a couple more months before you can experience the turn-based strategy gameplay of the alien invasion title. The team of developers at Firaxis this week announced the news with some details on why the delay has to happen. Read more on this news below.

The new official release date, as you can see from our title image from the game's official Facebook page, is Feb. 5, 2016. This push is reminiscent of Evolve's delayed release, too, according to Kotaku. Both titles are published by Take Two.

"We've set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown. We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game," Firaxis announced in an official statement this week (via IGN / We Got This Covered). "With XCOM 2, we want to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you. We appreciate your patience and continued support as we move towards February. Good luck, Commander!"
