A woman and 2 children were found dead this morning in a shooting incident in a Northeast Denver, Colorado, home that also injured another child. The surviving victim was taken to the Denver Health Medical Center with unknown injuries but in critical condition. The names of the victims have yet to be released, but the children are believed to be under the age of 10 years old. The shooting happened at 49th Avenue and Pearl Street before 7AM in the morning.

Most of the updates on the home shooting are coming from the Denver Police Department's Twitter feed. The first in a series of tweets was:

The account then followed the breaking news with 3 updates about the victims, the investigation and links to videos concerning the incident. Another tweet was a simple reminder to follow the case through the social media site:

One of the videos was the first official statement from Denver Chief of Police Robert C White to the press about the shooting. He gave a quick summation of the investigation and then added:

"I would ask that we all keep those involved - those that are going to be faced with this horrible tragedy - in our thoughts."

Another video was that of Major Crimes Investigations Commander Ron Saunier discussing preliminary information about the death investigation. The Commander gave another brief summary of what was going on and addressed some issues of speculation such as the threat of more shootings and/or if there was a killer on the loose.

21-year-old neighbor, Rosalinda Bustillos, told authorities that her father-in-law heard a gun go off around 5 a.m., following up with:

"Right after that a truck took off really fast."

According to other neighbors, the victims moved in the house about six months ago.

Considering the severity of this situation and the fact that updates are few and far between, I have included the videos and quotes in this post for clarity.  Follow the Denver Police Department's Twitter account for updates on the shooting. This tragedy will clearly be a hot addition to the debate over the already heated gun control issue in the United States.
