50 Shades of Grey Movie Casting News UPDATE: Chace Crawford 'Up For' Christian Grey Challenge, 'Only Comfortable with S&M Scenes!' [POLL]

"Gossip Girl" heartthrob Chace Crawford is totally up for the challenge of playing the hot-and-steamy Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey." In fact, the 27-year-old actor teases that he's only comfortable with doing S&M scenes... everything else is just too simple and boring! Thanks to Crawford's little "Fifty Shades" shout-out, his name quickly resurfaced in fans' avid search for the perfect, mouth-watering Christian Grey. Let the battle begin! Or at least continue...

Crawford recently had a little chit-chat with Fox, and when asked if he'd ever consider taking on the role of Anastasia Steele's kinky leading man, he was more than happy to answer with a definite "yes" -

"I would love the challenge... I have not read the books, but what I know is that it is risqué, and to be honest, anything to shake up from the way I have been going would be good."

Maybe he should get on that, because some fans are definitely pining for him to snag the part!

"Hey, if they ask me to come and read, I would definitely do so. I don't even know what the character is like; I haven't read anything or heard anything about it!" Crawford continues.

Although he admits he doesn't know much about Christian Grey, the Texas native doesn't seem the least bit intimated...

"I am only comfortable with S&M sex scenes! The other ones are just too simple and boring for me... I actually think, whether it is a sex scene, or screaming at something to get something across. I think it is kind of attacked the same way, and you're in the work mode, and you stay professional. It has never been awkward or intimidating."

"Sex scene" and "screaming"... Crawford has our attention!

Recent reports show that the 27-year-old "Gossip Girl" heartthrob is quickly climbing the fan favorite polls, especially considering top-picks Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer might be too old for the coveted role.

The Wiki description of Christian Grey portrays the male protagonist (and Anastasia Steele's love interest) as "young, handsome, intelligent, business-savvy, charming, and the CEO of Grey Enterprises Holdings, Inc. Upon further acquaintance with him, and later on in a relationship, Anastasia finds out that there is a 'dark side' to Christian's sexuality... Christian is very enigmatic and shown to be tall, muscular, broad-shouldered, and having dark copper colored hair and grey eyes."

Would Crawford fit the part? Age (and look-wise), yes. Grey is a handsome, young businessman who enters the "Fifty Shades" trilogy at 27-years-old. Producers may overlook fan favorites Somerhalder and Bomer simply because of their ages - both are already in their mid-30s (34 and 35 respectively), and probably will be in their 40s by the time the film trilogy comes to an end. Age might not even be a factor when it comes to casting, since many actors/actresses in Hollywood typically portray an array of different characters, but it's still something to take into consideration.

"Gossip Girl" is going off the air soon, and it looks like Crawford is indeed looking to "do something really shocking" with his career - could "Fifty Shades of Grey" be the perfect fit? Mstarz fans decide!
