According to recent reports, Emilia Graciela Bell, an employee at a Dollar General store in Wrightsville, GA, was arrested and charged with cruelty to a child last Thursday (Jan. 31) after whipping an "unruly" young boy with her own belt. A detailed police report reveals that 8-year-old Logan Ivey was allegedly misbehaving in the store, throwing items such as cookies and batteries at the female clerk. In response, Bell pulled off her own belt and whipped the young boy as many as 25 times on the back. Surveillance video from the store (which has not been released to the public) captured the entire beating, and the charges against Bell eventually grew from simple battery to aggravated assault to the more serious crime of cruelty to a child.

Reports confirm that young Ivey was shopping at the Dollar General store last week with his mother and sisters when the violent interaction took place. Ivey began disrespecting 39-year-old Bell and supposedly caused a disturbance in the store. Bell then took it upon herself to punish the boy, admittedly striking Ivey and then repeatedly whipping him on the back with her belt. Ivey's family did not witness the attack, and it's unknown if his mother was actually in the store at the time. According to CBS affiliate WMAZ-TV, after learning about the aggressive spanking, Ivey's father Jody alerted the police. Wrightsville Police Chief Paul Sterling responded to the scene and took a look at the surveillance camera footage, which captured the entire incident.

Bell was initially arrested and charged with simple battery/aggravated assault, but she was later charged with the more serious crime of cruelty to a child after police determined that she whipped Ivey over two dozen times.

"There were two different angles from different cameras in the store," Wrightsville Police Assistant Sheriff Bill Thompson told ABC. "They'd only watched the first when they arrested Ms. Bell. After finding out another camera had caught it, you could see her striking the child 16 to 18 more times... She had him behind the counter... She had him on the floor at one point. It was pretty bad, looking on the video." At one point during the ordeal,  the 8-year-old tried to hide from Bell's wrath by huddling under the store's counter.

The young boy recently told WMAZ that he was running around the store when Bell started pursuing him and began calling him a demon. Ivey allegedly responded with "I'll show you bad," and threw a cookie at her. That's when Bell whipped off her belt and began the spanking. "It felt like five needles were sticking in me," Ivey explains, "I was screaming, 'Momma.'"

"I wish everyone could see the video," Jody Ivey said. "It shows how many times she really hit him and how bad it was."

Bell was arrested and later released on Friday (Feb. 1) on a $5,000 bond. The case is currently with the Georgia Superior Court, but records indicate that Bell has yet to enter a plea. She provided no comment to ABC.
