During a media tour with his daughter Liz Cheney, former Vice President Dick Cheney was asked about Donald Trump. Since Trump's meteoric rise in the Republican party, it only makes sense to ask the United States' former #2 man to comment about this non-politician's status during our country's most politically charged era. Cheney in turn responded gingerly to the CNN reporter. According to him, he has not yet "signed on" with anybody and will not send out endorsements until the race is a bit more close to a conclusion. Cheney did mention though that he's surprised that Trump has come as far as he has.
"I don't know the man. I never met him. He's a candidate and I don't want to be in the business of rating candidates at this point. I have not signed on with anybody and don't plan to today," Cheney said. "I will support the nominee of my party, as I always have."
Since Cheney wasn't eager to talk about Trump she asked him to comment on what he thought of Trump's ascension thus far. Just like everyone else the former VP is surprised Trump is in the picture. On top of that, he believes he'll be a major factor going forward.
"I've been surprised that he's done as well as he has. I think most of us have on the Republican side but he clearly is a major factor going forward and we'll watch developments with interest."
Over on Trump's end of things the candidate has had a few unkind words for Jeb Bush, the brother of Cheney's former running mate, George Bush. Trump says Bush has been soft on illegal immigrants and voiced his gripe on Instagram in the form of a thirty-second video. In the video Bush is quoted as saying that three illegal immigrants charged with violent crimes acted out in "love." Naturally, Trump wasn't a fan.
You can check that video out below.
This is no "act of love" as Jeb Bush said...
