You've got to hand it to Jimmy Fallon- not many people would make a fat joke directly to Chris Christie's face but the Tonight Show host did just that on Monday night's episode of the NBC show. Sure, the New Jersey governor jokingly stormed off the set after the jab, making light of the situation, but the fact remains that it was pretty ballsy of Fallon.

The joke came during Christie's panel, in which he was recalling a story of a time he spent with Marco Rubio and Mitt Romney. Apparently they were all out on a boat with their families – which totals up to so many children, by the way, 95% of them Romney's – and towards the end Romney suggested ice cream.

Christie, on the show, said he had a rather tame response to Romney's suggestion – claiming he said, "Alright." And that's when Fallon couldn't resist...

"First of all, you weren't like, 'alright,'" he said, growing a hefty smiling on his face. Which caused this reaction:

"You were like, 'Yahoo!!!!!!'" Fallon exclaimed. Which in turn made Christie say goodnight to the crowd and leave the set.

But don't worry, he came back to finish the story, which undoubtedly didn't amount to the hilarity of the before bit.

Check out the NJ governor's panel on The Tonight Show below:

Also during Christie's panel, Fallon and the Republican presidential candidate talked about his uninteresting appearance during the primary debate. To which he promised a more "nuclear" presence at the second, which will be held on Sept. 16.

So, Fallon's jab at Christie. Thoughts?

We haven't even started and Mary Pat is already cracking up!(@jimmyfallon seems to have that effect on people) #backstage
