While this time for Patrick Dempsey would have usually been spent getting ready to go back to work on Grey's Anatomy, now that his character has been killed off, the star is looking for other work. As everyone knows, the job hunt can usually be brutal, but it seems that the former Dr. Derek Shepherd has found his first role outside of Seattle Grace-Mercy West Hospital. It is being reported that Patrick will be headed to the big screen in hopes of wooing Bridget Jones. That's right; Dempsey is reportedly in negotiations to star along Renee Zellweger in the third installment of the British flicks inspired by Pride and Prejudice, titled Bridget Jones's Baby.

People is reporting that this would be Dempsey's first role after his high profile exit from the ABC medical series, as by now the world knows that "McDreamy" was killed off in last season in a car wreck.

At the time of his exit, he spoke to Entertainment Weekly and questioned if he could follow up his role by doing something else, or if his character was too well known for him to get another acting job easily.

"I want to try something different," the star explained. "[But] is Derek so identifiable that I can't go on and be someone else?"

According to Deadline, this will be the third installment of the popular series, with Renee Zellweger taking on the title role of the publishing executive who is entering her 40s. In addition to that, it seems that from the title it is safe to assume that there is going to be a bun in the oven for Zellweger's character.

Details are being kept under lock and key for the new project, but we do know that Colin Firth will also be reprising his role as Mark Darcy in the new flick.
