Numerous reports confirm that Christopher Dorner, the ex-LAPD fugitive who led police on a heated manhunt the past several days after posting a disturbing revenge "Manifesto" online, is believed to be dead after a final standoff in a vacant Big Bear Lake, CA cabin. Even after such a dangerous, furious shootout, it looks like controversial shock jock and infamous radio prankster Howard Stern still managed to get the last laugh. Captain Janks, one of Stern's well-known sidekicks, managed to crash CBS's live coverage of the standoff, posing as U.S. fish and game official eyewitness "Mike Taugher." But when Janks namedropped "Ronnie the Limo Driver" (aka, Stern's longtime limo driver and radio show regular Ronald Mund), things took a quick turn from the very serious to rather hilarious. Check out the footage below.
First off, some background info on the Christopher Jordan Dorner manhunt, one of the largest manhunts in LAPD history:
Dorner is a former LAPD police officer and ex-United States Navy reservist. He was the primary suspect in a series of shooting attacks from February 3-12 that left four people dead (including two police officers) and four other police officers wounded. On February 11, the Riverside District Attorney filed formal charges against Dorner for the murder of a police officer and the attempted murder of three other officers. On Tuesday, Feb. 12, a shooter believed to be Dorner was involved in a shootout that led to the death of an officer and possibly his own death following the burning of a Big Bear lake cabin that he was believed to have barricaded himself in. A body was found within the burned cabin, and reports confirm that Dorner's ID was found among the fire wreckage. Dorner's online manifesto detailed his plans and motivations to "seek revenge" on several LAPD members and families. Read more on that here.
And how is Howard Stern involved in all of this? Well, check it out:
That's right - avid Howard Stern fan Captain Janks managed to prank KCBS-TV in L.A... LIVE ON THE AIR. Mike Taugher, a State Fish and Game ranger, was supposed to give an eyewitness account of the shootout... but once Janks mentions that "Ronnie the Limo Driver" is the one he witnessed firing at Dorner, most listeners know it's all a hoax. Apparently it took some time for the news broadcaster to realize she'd been pranked.... when the anchor fails to catch on, the prankster yells, "You're a real dumba##, you still don't know this is a prank?"
Totally inappropriate, or totally hilarious?
